How the Tank Protector Works
A zinc anode ball is inserted into the fuel oil tank. This zinc ball shifts the focus of corrosion from the steel tank to the zinc anode. This occurs because zinc is a more corrosive material than steel, therefore the corrosive forces attack the zinc anode instead of the fuel oil tank. The Tank Protector slowly degrades as the corrosive forces act on it. After the course of a year there will be little of the Tank Protector left and a new anode must be inserted.

This technology is similar to that used by boaters on their motors and propellers as well as in water heaters. The technology has been proven to work in scientific studies at EPA certified labs (See Technical Report) and based on reports of reduced failure rates for customers using Tank Protector (tanks fail at about 1/2 the rate of the industry standard, or 3 failures for every 1,000 tanks).
